Nintendo has announced that additional playable characters will be added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the next wave of DLC. Here are the characters gamers want to see.
The fourth wave of DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available and it’s the first to add a playable character to the roster. The fourth wave of Four introduces Birdo who has made her Mario Kart debut with Double Dash! The character has appeared in only several titles since. The main excitement, however, comes from the updated character selection screen. Birdo’s presence adds a new section to the roster with five question marks that fill the rest of the spaces, causing players to speculate who they could be.
Nintendo has announced that the last two waves of DLC will add more playable characters to the roster but left no clue as to the characters they could be. Most of the DLC has been tracks that were previously released in Mario Kart titles. It makes sense to include all DLC characters back. But that doesn’t mean Nintendo will not delight everyone with a new character. Fans are buzzing with anticipation and making predictions. There are plenty of possibilities. Here are the top desired characters in Mario Kart Deluxe.

Petey Piranha Is Mario’s Most Lovable Enemy
Like Birdo, Petey Piranha made his debut as a driver in Mario Kart: Double Dash! And hasn’t made an appearance since, other than in Mario Kart: Tour. As a boss in the early game, Petey was introduced to Mario and was a popular baddie in every game in which he appeared. Petey is the oversized, mutated leader of the Piranha Plants. His iconic design for the character is hilariously funny. His head is oversized, which could be an issue when playing as Petey in Mario Kart, but that makes it more satisfying to take him to first place. Petey Piranha is a classic veteran of the Mario series, and it could be quite a shock to find out that one of the five spots was not intended for Petey.
Pauline Moves From Damsel-in-Distress To the Mayor of New Donk City
Pauline is a fan-favorite who has been an element of the Mario franchise from the very beginning. When she was first elected the mayor of New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey HTML1 in the first game, she was the damsel in distress who Mario saved back in Donkey Kong. In the years since Super Mario Odyssey, Pauline has been accepted to the Super Mario family with open arms, making appearances in a couple of sports titles as well as the Mario Kart Tour. Her sultry appearance and her status as mayor set Pauline above the other female characters within the Super Mario franchise, and it is easy to see why the fans love Pauline.

Kamek, the Magikoopa deserves a spot on the Roster
Kamek is the character that is most in demand in Mario Kart8 Deluxe. This old Magikoopa serves as Bowser’s advisor and has been only available via the mobile version of Mario Kart Tour. Kamek was introduced in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, in which he cared for Baby Bowser and served as the game’s primary antagonist. He went on to be the main antagonist throughout the Yoshi games and is often one of Mario’s final bosses before going up against Bowser. Kamek is a very prominent figure across all Nintendo franchises.
Donkey Kong Without Diddy Kong Just Feels Off
While Diddy Kong isn’t exactly the most adored monkey in Mario Kart 8, (that would have been Funky Kong), his presence will be loved. Diddy Kong is Donkey Kong’s nephew, as well as his partner in the Donkey Kong Country games, which makes it feel slightly odd to put DK in the game entirely by himself. Dixie, as well as Funky, was previously featured in Mario Kart. While they would be wonderful to have on the roster in Mario Kart8 Deluxe, Diddy seems like the most appropriate option. Diddy Kong’s previous Mario Kart appearances were in Double Dash! !, Mario Kart Wii, and Mario Kart Tour.

Now Is the Perfect Time to celebrate Princess Zelda’s Debut
One character that’s much overdue for their Mario Kart debut is Princess Zelda Fans want to have it happen. The Legend of Zelda is one of the most popular Nintendo classics since it was released on the NES. However, the franchise was not included in Mario Kart until Link was introduced in Mario Kart 8. It has since included various versions of Link for the player to choose from along with a cool horse-shaped motorcycle and a Hyrule-inspired racetrack. Tears of the Kingdom is also close to releasing, with many speculating that Zelda may have her most significant role in the franchise to date, so it’s the perfect time to finally include her in the team of racing.
There are only two more DLC releases to come, and it’s impossible to predict which of the five characters will turn out to be. Funky Kong and Dixie Kong Jr, Donkey Kong Jr. Wigglers Honey Queen, Koopa Paratroopa,, and R.O.B. are just a handful of characters that may have been in Mario Kart. Nintendo has promised to bring back characters but didn’t specify if they would all return. That means there is a chance for someone else to join the Mario Kart roster. It’s too early to tell, and we can’t wait to find out who the five final characters will be.
